On-screen PadMan Akshay Kumar trolled, praised for flagging off DU's Women Marathon with ABVP flag

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar's latest outing Pad Man is the story of an activist from Tamil Nadu -- Arunachalam Muruganantham -- who worked day in and day out to produce and make available low-cost sanitary napkins to women in rural areas.

Promotions ahead of the release of movies have become a pattern and actors are seen going to great lengths to popularise the movie among the masses.
Akshay Kumar, the male lead of Pad Man -- Arunachalam Muruganantham's biopic -- was at Delhi University yesterday as part of a promotional campaign for the movie where he flagged off a women's marathon. The marathon had women running for the cause of women empowerment and to demand sanitary napkins in the market are tax-exempted.
Kumar, however, flagged off the marathon using a flag of the Bharatiya Janata Party's youth wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad's flag. He tweeted the photo of him holding the ABVP flag as well saying "Flagged off Delhi University's Women Marathon. These lovely ladies are taking the cause of women empowerment forward and running for tax-free sanitary pads," along with a 'fingers crossed Emoji'.

Kumar using an ABVP flag is now being seen as him being open about his political inclination. His last movie Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was a satirical comedy that was said to be made in support of NDA government's Swachha Bharat Abhiyan.
While the Left is trolling him for using the ABVP flag, those leaning towards the Right are praising him being 'bold' and 'out in the open'.
